Cruise with Norwegian Cruise Line

Currently the world’s third-largest cruise line, Miami-based NCL was founded in 1966 and has been a huge influence on the industry, paving the way for a new era of giant cruise ships in the late 1970s. NCL is known for its young fleet of ships that feature bright, contemporary décor and spacious interiors, and also has a reputation for going the extra mile with its abundance of on-board entertainment options. Covering Alaska to Asia, Scandinavia to the South Pacific, as well as two of its own private islands in the Caribbean, ‘Norwegian’, as it’s known in the industry continues to be one of the perennial favourites with passengers.

The Experience

Forget rigid on-board timetables, an NCL cruise is all about versatility and freedom. Roam the ship at your leisure and eat when you want, wherever you want and in the company you choose. NCL’s ships are regularly refurbished with trend-setting artwork and furniture to ensure they meet the company’s fresh and contemporary design ethos. You’ll also find some of the most modern and spacious staterooms at sea.

Activities

Those with a head for heights will love the dizzying activities on board NCL’s ships. There are bungee trampolines, huge rock walls and on Breakaway and Breakaway Plus-class ships you can even walk the plank over the ocean waves. There’s also mini golf and bowling for those who prefer something a little less nerve-jangling. Norwegian Fight Club™, taken by experienced trainers, is a great way to keep fit and let off some steam.

An array of places to eat

Gorge on a hot-off-the-grill burger, feast on Asian fusion or get stuck into spicy classic Mexican at Los Lobos. There’s even a Brazilian restaurant – Moderno Churrascaria – which serves up skewers of sizzling meat, carved at your table. Dine inside or alfresco along The Waterfront and do it in your own time. As the company likes to say, “follow your mood, not a schedule”.

A treat for all your senses

If you want a bit of ocean-going escapism, retreat into the superb Mandara Spa® which offers everything from hot-stone massage to facials, massages to acupuncture. The menu here is substantial, and there’s a number of manicure and pedicure treatments using nourishing oils and milks, such as Frangipani Monoi Oil, known for its ritual uses in Tahiti. There’s also a thermal suite with invigorating Vitality Pool.

Entertainment

NCL stages a wealth of scintillating stage shows on its ships, from Broadway-style musicals to steamy Latin dancing. See stunning acrobatics and gravity-defying aerialists amidst a thrilling lightshow at Cirque Dreams. There are also clubs playing a selection of live music by acclaimed rock bands, with several ships hosting the Beatles-themed Cavern Club, complete with cover band playing all the hits by the Fab Four.

Bars

Join the throng at the the pool deck for one of the legendary sail-away parties, or glam up and head for Bliss Ultra Lounge. There are also specialist bars selling craft beer, Art Deco lounges, specialist wine bars and the Sugarcane Mojito Bar. You’ll always find somewhere for a convivial drink along quarter-mile-long ocean-front promenade, the ocean breeze on your face.
