Aviation Manger

Position – Full Time - Permanent

Salary £30,000+ DOE

Based Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire

Reporting to Head of Aviation

Established in the UK in 2011, founded by experienced travel entrepreneur and CEO Robin Deller along with co-founder Natalie Maye. Imagine Cruising are experts in creating Cruise and Stay Holidays and now selling over 60,000 holidays a year with turnover in excess of £200m and industry beating margin and profit metrics. We specialise in creating competitively priced, unique cruise packages targeted at both traditional cruisers and the “new to cruise” market.

Our Head Office is in the UK with a team of 150 and we are now trading in South Africa, Australia, (Brisbane & Perth), and New Zealand, a total of 250 employees.

Imagine Cruising believes in developing the knowledge, capability and skills of all staff in the company. That may mean that from time to time we will ask staff to be flexible in working in and supporting different areas of the business either within their own teams or through working with colleagues on projects and activities around the business. This will help develop both individuals and the company as a whole in our fast moving and developing business.

Typical Activities


  • Control all Operational elements of Aviation:

Conduct Global fare reviews ensuring ITX, Cruise and Net fares and special offers are loaded in Global GDS systems

Advise ceasing use of an airline where appropriate

Support in providing airline-related training to other departments as required

Act as internal advisor for all airline related issues

Safeguard ticketing and manage schedule changes to reduce business liability

Submit and own all insurance claims

  • Manage the Aviation Team

Management of UK/SA flights team

Conduct monthly 1-2-1’s and KPI performance reviews

Provide and deliver on personal development plans for all staff

Evaluate and alter process controls where necessary

Prioritise incoming workload ensuring work is conducted efficiently

Ensure we deliver company objectives in BAU/Groups/Concierge deployment

Safeguard ticketing and manage schedule changes to reduce business liability

Review global system/process efficiencies and implement GDS/API process enhancement where required

  • Concierge Delivery

Ensure global concierge delivery deadlines are fulfilled, making sure group requests are made and appealing upgrade options are secured

Focus on delivering operationally sound out of system range flights which delivers the best possible flight route/times for the customer

Oversee all out of system range bookings ensuring that flights are booked at the best available rates and made within the applicable booking window

  • Monitor and analyse

Report on sales attributed to campaigns

Identify areas for improvement

Forecast and plan forward workload

Identify risk and liability

Maximise profitability of the department

Review performance and delivery to internal departments, ensuring the assistance provided to other departments is provided in the best and most time efficient way

Manage any new air projects, i.e. website feeds

Providing assistance to Global product teams

Skill Set Required


  • Be able to build strong relationships with airlines and staff
