Commercial Manger

Position – Full Time - Permanent

Salary £45,000 – £55,000

Based Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire

Reporting to General Manager - Australia

About Imagine Cruising

Established in the UK in 2011, founded by experienced travel entrepreneur and CEO Robin Deller along with co-founder Natalie Maye. Imagine Cruising are experts in creating Cruise and Stay Holidays and now selling over 60,000 holidays a year with turnover in excess of £200m and industry beating margin and profit metrics. We specialise in creating competitively priced, unique cruise and holiday packages targeted at both traditional cruisers and the “new to cruise” market.

Our Head Office is in the UK with a team of 200 and we are now trading in South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, (Brisbane & Perth) a total of 300 employees.

Imagine Cruising believes in developing the knowledge, capability and skills of all staff in the company. That may mean that from time to time we will ask staff to be flexible in working in and supporting different areas of the business either within their own teams or through working with colleagues on projects and activities around the business. This will help develop both individuals and the company as a whole in our fast moving and developing business.

Job Purpose

This role is a fundamental part of the business strategy, the ideal candidate will provide commercial insight into future opportunities and risks and will take responsibility for daily decisions in order to increase profitability and volume of the business.


  • Provide monthly P&L forecast targets within agreed timeframe.
  • Build and take responsibility for the monthly Marketing plans.
  • Based on ROI and Product Focus
  • Business needs (from Cruise lines)
  • Analyse daily trading against KPI plans and make adjustments to marketing plans as necessary.
    • Maximise ROI by product is achieving KPI or above
    • Maximise ROI by marketing source are achieving KPI or above
  • Review product performance and yield products to ensure maximum returns
  • Track performance of all yielding decisions
  • Collaborate with Product and Marketing teams in order to deliver the monthly sales P&L and retention plan
  • Flag any issues in delivering the monthly sales P&L and retention numbers
  • Management of Cruise Line funding
  • Give clear direction to the Global Head of Trading on commercial business performance and provide solutions to issues where possible
  • Participate in weekly and monthly trading meetings with Global Heads and Directors
  • General analytical tasks

Skill Set Required

  • Strong Analytical skills and the ability to turn data into information for decision making
  • Advanced skill base in Excel essential including pivot tables.
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment and able to deliver under pressure
  • Self-driven, with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality
  • Proven numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent communicator and team player
  • A passion for the travel industry a real advantage
  • Able to work extended hours on occasions when required
  • A quick thinker with a commercial outlook.
  • Articulate with a resilient attitude and able to explain business decisions
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities
  • Previous pricing and yield management experience preferred (not essential)
  • Accounting experience would be beneficial but not essential.
