Contracting Manager

Position – Full Time - Permanent

Salary  £35,000 - £40,000 DOE

Based Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire / Partial Remote

Reporting to Head of Contracting

Established in the UK in 2011, founded by experienced travel entrepreneur and CEO Robin Deller along with co-founder Natalie Maye. Imagine Cruising are experts in creating Cruise and Stay Holidays and now selling over 60,000 holidays a year with turnover in excess of £200m and industry beating margin and profit metrics. We specialise in creating competitively priced, unique cruise packages targeted at both traditional cruisers and the “new to cruise” market.

Our Head Office is in the UK with a team of 150 and we are now trading in South Africa, Australia, (Brisbane & Perth), and New Zealand, a total of 250 employees.

That may mean that from time to time we will ask staff to be flexible in working in and supporting different areas of the business either within their own teams or through working with colleagues on projects and activities around the business. This will help develop both individuals and the company as a whole in our fast moving and developing business.

Job Purpose

To own and negotiate the worldwide procurement of non-cruise products with a focus being to protect core products and develop the depth and breadth of a sustainable ground portfolio that will drive business growth. Create and maintain strong contractual relationships with our key suppliers ensuring a good mix of both competitive and exclusive rate agreements.

Typical activities


  • Manage the briefing and contracting timetable with the Product teams, managing expectations around deadlines and budgets
  • Develop and maintain key supplier relationships with jointly agreed vision and strategy. Drive agreements that are regularly reviewed. Nurture agreements to negotiate industry leading rates and unique products.
  • Develop a travel timetable to research and negotiate product briefs creating new supplier opportunities and well as strengthening current agreements.
  • Monitor destination arrival statistics and seek strategic initiatives in order to drive incremental market share for Imagine.
  • Agree and take ownership of processes with the Operational team to ensure contracted products are operationally viable and provide an excellent customer journey.
  • Ensure zero liability and take proactive action to minimise any financials risks of contracting. Ensuring all stock is managed and released with suppliers in a timely manner.
  • Develop sales, room night, rate data, year on year, competitor analysis and recommend rate requirements to help aid negotiations. Communicate risks and recommendations to negate to the Director team.
  • Review Customer Feedback and look to ways to improve ground products and the customer journey with the product and service team. Manage any customer complaint escalations and drive compensation recovery where appropriate from suppliers.
  • Understand the of pricing strategy, margins and volumes associated with each contracted product
  • Own contracting plan to support the Up-Sell Strategy (post booking / pre departure sales)
  • Ensuring strong and robust department processes are in place for contract filing, version controls, liability risk reviews and deadline achievement.

Skill Set Required

  • A passion for tourism worldwide
  • Be able to adapt to internal processes and relay complex information in a concise way to peers/contracting executives
  • Experience in contracting, negotiating and maintaining new supplier partnerships
  • Strong pro-active, dynamic, passionate and a team player.
  • Experience in negotiation skills preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills plus excellent numeric ability
  • Excellent attention to detail, innovative thinker, and creative problem solver
  • Manage and prioritise conflicting priorities.
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office (Excel/Word) applications and computing skills.
  • Ability to undertake travel abroad when required by the business.
