Michael Ball

Michael Ball is Britain’s leading musical theatre star, a double Olivier Award-winner, multi-platinum recording artist and a hugely popular radio and TV presenter. Michael regularly tours the UK as a concert artist and has sold millions of albums over the last 28 years. He has a successful radio broadcasting career which includes his own show, The Michael Ball Show on Radio 2. He is also a popular TV presenter and, in addition to hosting his own series, The Michael Ball Show on ITV1, he is a regular guest presenter on The One Show.

Following the phenomenal success of Ball & Boe, in early 2019, Michael released Coming Home To You, his first solo album in four years and his first No. 1 album in 27 years! After a tough 12 months for everybody during lockdown, and inspired by his interview with Captain Sir Tom Moore, Michael used his free time creatively to write and produce his latest album, ‘We Are More Than One’, an album more personal than ever before. Michael learnt how to write and record remotely, and every track has an inspiring story to tell.

Michael is set to kick off a 13-date arena tour of the UK and Ireland with Alfie Boe this Christmas.

Björn Again

The enduring appeal of ABBA is reflected in the ongoing success of the Björn Again show having amassed 5,300 performances in 73 countries in 33 years.

The Internationally acclaimed BJÖRN AGAIN show was created and founded in 1988 in Melbourne, by Australian Director and Musician Rod Stephen. Designed as a rocked-up light-hearted satirical ABBA spoof, the show rapidly achieved world-wide cult status and acknowledged for single handedly initiating the ABBA revival which brought about ABBA Gold, Muriel’s Wedding and MAMMA MIA!

With acknowledgement from ABBA’s blonde vocalist Agnetha Fältskog, Rod aims to keep his typically Australian production at the top and continue for as long as people want to hear the much-loved ABBA repertoire performed the way only the Björn Again show does.

Paul Potts

The Welsh-residing tenor, for whom singing has always been a haven and a source of joy, is living his dream. After winning the inaugural series of Britain’s Got Talent in 2007, he released his debut album ‘One Chance’ which topped the charts in 13 countries and became a household name in cities from Seoul to New York and Sydney to Hamburg. Paul’s story has since inspired the Hollywood film ‘One Chance’ starring James Cordon and he has to date performed nearly 1,000 times across 44 countries.

Day 1 - Embark Queen Elizabeth in Southampton

Embark the regal Queen Elizabeth, one of the finest cruise liners sailing the five oceans and a ship that offers a little of the finer things in life to all passengers who sail with her. Enjoy Cunard’s spectacular heritage, sense of occasion and huge array of activities, including ballroom-dancing, lawn bowls and afternoon tea in the Garden Lounge.
Image

Days 2-4 - At Sea

You’ll have plenty of options to choose from on your ocean-going days on board the Queen Elizabeth. One of the highlights of the voyage is undoubtedly the traditional English Afternoon Tea, featuring finger sandwiches, delicious cakes and fine teas – all served by Cunard’s impeccably dressed white-gloved waiters.
Image

Day 5 - Funchal, Madeira (Overnight in Port)

Backed by hills, the capital city of Portugal’s Madeira archipelago is famed for its harbour, gardens and Madeira wine cellars. Wander round the spectacular Botanical Garden, with its rich and diverse sub-tropical flora. The western edge of the garden affords captivating views across Funchal Bay.
Image

Day 6 - Funchal, Madeira

Enjoy a further day to explore this compact city. Popular sights include the Funchal cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture and of course the Monte Cable Car. The ride from the Funchal old town takes around 20 minutes and allows beautiful views across the city.
Image

Day 7 - Tenerife

The largest of the Canary Islands, Tenerife is towered over by a dormant volcano, Mount Teide, and its beaches range from golden yellow to black sand as a result of its unique geology. With year-round sunshine, spectacular scenery, rich colonial architecture and abundant marine life, Tenerife has plenty of attractions for visitors.
Image

Day 8 - Gran Canaria

130 miles from the African coast, this ‘mini continent in an island’ is a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve due to its diverse terrain and natural habitats including its green and leafy north, a dramatic mountainous interior and a rugged coastline interspersed by miles of sandy dunes. As well as beautiful beaches, year-round sunshine and stunning natural landscapes, Gran Canaria is a melting pot of flavours and cultures due to its unique location.
Image

Day 9 - Lanzarote

Lanzarote is most well-known for its year-round sun and volcanic landscape. A perfect example of this is Cueva de los Verdes, a famous tunnel made from a volcanic eruption thousands of years ago. Local architect César Manrique moulded his home into five hardened underground lava bubbles which showcases the beauty of volcanic rock and architecture. You can visit this astounding creation as it is open to the public.
Image

Day 10 - At Sea

If there’s ever a cruise in which you can slip on your glad rags, it’s a Cunard cruise. And the Gala Balls on the Queen Elizabeth are the highlight of the ship’s famously lavish nightlife. Show off your well-choreographed dance steps on the polished dancefloor of the Queens Room to the accompaniment of an eight-piece orchestra. Each Gala Ball is themed, from the Roaring Twenties to Masquerade, giving you the perfect excuse to live the high-life and let loose, Cunard-style.
Image

Day 11 - Cadiz

The Spanish port of Cádiz is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Western Europe and has been shaped by a number of civilisations, from the Phoenicians to the Romans to the Moors. It boasts an impressive maritime heritage and was once home to the Spanish navy. Nowadays it’s a densely populated city that teems with warren-like streets and remarkable plazas studded with palm trees. Try the local tapas and look out for exuberant flamenco performances on the streets.
Image

Day 12 - Lisbon

The sun-kissed capital of Portugal gleams in the sunlight against the backdrop of the sparkling Atlantic Ocean. With a skyline a watercolour palette of primrose yellow buildings topped with terracotta roofs, the pint-sized city is set across seven hills and it’s easy to explore in a couple of days thanks to a network of traditional trams. In almost all the traditional restaurants you’ll find plates piled high with olives, baskets of rough country bread and bowls of arroz de feijão, rice and beans.
Image

Days 13-14 - At Sea

The entertainment on Queen Elizabeth is second to none, with a dazzling line up of acts and performances in venues that are known for their comfort and meticulously designed décor. Whether its live music, illusionists, West End-style cabaret or stand-up comedians, the talent on show at the Royal Court Theatre is truly world-class and you’ll keep going back for more.

BOOK YOUR ULTIMATE CUNARD CANARIES SAILCATION TODAY

Covid-19 Policy

On board, you can still enjoy everything that makes a Cunard holiday so special, and Cunard's crew have been pulling out all the stops, preparing to welcome you back in style. From the restaurants and bars to the cinema and theatre, pools and spas to gyms and shops, it’s all waiting for you.

With Cunard's new protocols in place, and while some aspects may initially feel a little different, these changes are designed to protect the health of everyone on board and in the destinations they visit, and they hope you will find these both reassuring and easy to adjust to.

On this page, we’ve outlined Cunard's necessary measures for their return to sailing, in line with current guidance, but as the world evolves so may their policies and procedures. Rest assured Cunard will continue to work with the government and scientific advisors to continually review their protocols so you can have an enjoyable and relaxing holiday.

New Protocols

For a long time Cunard have had in place many of the protocols now being observed by other social gathering venues on their ships, such as hand-sanitising stations and rigorous cleaning procedures. They have also gone beyond those protocols by asking guests to complete a Health Declaration form and having a comprehensive medical facility on board each ship providing 24/7 medical care and treatment; this will, of course, continue across the fleet.

Guest and crew well-being

Cunard are committed to delivering the highest standards of health, safety and well-being for their guests, crew and the wider communities they visit. To achieve this:

  • Every area of the ship will be rigorously and regularly cleaned and sanitised
  • Cunard will provide additional hand-sanitising stations
  • Cunard have enhanced their on board ventilation systems to provide improved filtration and increased fresh air on board
  • Cunard will adhere to approved, up-to-date guidance for every aspect of the holiday experience, including the mandatory use of face masks and social distancing, which will be in place in certain areas
  • Cunard will be operating initially with a reduced occupancy on their ships to support their new protocols
  • Crew will undergo a strict testing and quarantine regime as well as regular testing during their time on board
  • Cunard have plans in place, tailored for each ship, to manage medical needs, including dedicated stateroom capacity for isolation, should this be required.

Vaccination and testing policy

Following ongoing guest feedback, Cunard have reviewed their vaccination and testing policy. For all cruises departing from 13 October to 31 December 2021, all guests 18 years old and over will be required to have completed their vaccination course a minimum of 14 days prior to sailing. All guests 17 years old and below will need to have completed their vaccination course a minimum 14 days prior to sailing or will require a negative PCR test within 72 hours prior to travel.

All guests will also require a negative Covid-19 test at the terminal; both the PCR and Covid-19 test at the terminal will be complimentary. This vaccination and testing policy will be reviewed on a regular basis as the global situation continues to evolve.

At the time of travel, some ports of call may stipulate specific vaccine policies for guests going ashore that differ from this policy.

Proof of vaccination status

You’ll be required to show proof of your vaccination status at the terminal prior to boarding. This can be either in digital or printed format and must be an official certificate of vaccine status issued by your local health authority (e.g. NHS England). Please visit your relevant NHS or local health authority website for full details of how to obtain an official record of your vaccine status in advance of your holiday (please note that some authorities require up to 10 days to process applications to receive postal certificates). Guests in England can download the NHS app, register with your NHS number and photo ID and gain access to ‘share your Covid-19 status’ – this creates a unique QR code and certificate which proves your vaccine record. Please do this well in advance of travel as NHS app accounts can take up to 14 days to approve. Please note that the record card that is given out at the time of vaccination will not be accepted as proof of your vaccination status.

Unfortunately, failure to provide proof of vaccination at the terminal will result in denial of boarding at your own expense.

Whilst you are not required to take a test before you arrive at the terminal, we would recommend you follow the government's advice and test yourself regularly at home. If you were to test positive within 14 days of departure, you would need to call Cunard's Customer Contact Centre, and not travel to the terminal.

It is the responsibility of any guest travelling from The Common Travel Area to meet the ship to adhere to the local travel restrictions in and out of England.
